Northwest Truck Driving FAQ

What are the fees to apply?
There is no cost to apply; our services are free.

Where does my application go once I complete and submit it?
Depending on the information you provide, we will release your application to truck driving companies in your area that are looking to hire individuals with your skills and experience.

How long will it take after I submit an application to hear from trucking companies?
After we pass on your application to truck driving companies, they should contact you within one to two days. However, response times will vary from company to company, so it may take longer than 48 hours.

What is a CDL?
A CDL is a commercial driver's license, which is required of all individuals who will be operating a commercial vehicle. You will receive your CDL upon successful completion of an accredited truck driving school. If for some reason you do not pass the CDL test, you will not be able to operate a commercial truck until you obtain one.

Can I still apply if I have a DUI or other moving violations on my record?
Yes, we would encourage you to still apply. However, please make known any convictions you have on your application so we can accurately pair you with schools and training facilities willing to consider you despite past convictions.

What if I have a felony?
As stated above, you can still apply but please disclose any felonies you have been convicted of on your application.

What kinds of truck driving jobs are available?
There are a number of different truck driving jobs available, it just depends on what you are looking for in a driving job. There are over the road or long-haul positions, where you would be delivering freight all over the country. There are also short-haul jobs, where you would deliver freight from terminal to terminal and local jobs which are within a specific area. Local driving jobs may be a bit harder to come by since there are not as many positions available as long-haul driving.

What types of things should I look for in a trucking company when looking for a driving job?
Things to consider will most likely include pay and time away from home. You should also take into consideration what benefits the company offers, what equipment is available for the drivers, and of course, the driving positions that are available.

How much does truck driving school cost?
The expenses of truck driving school will depend on which one you attend. Tuition fees may be anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000. While this may seem like a large amount, most trucking companies will work with you to help you pay the costs. Many companies offer financial assistance, tuition reimbursement, or even sponsored training, where they will pay for your training if you agree to work for them.

Is relocation required?
No! Since truck drivers are in such high demand, we will help place you with a great truck driving company right within your area. If you are looking for a change, however, we can help you find the perfect job nearly anywhere you want.
